Lolla '08

I'm in a pretty bad mood. I'm sick, tired, had to watch Sex and the City- ok, really quick. I don't get the undying affection that girls have for Sarah Jessica Parker. Am I missing something? I must be, because to every girl I know she is just the bees knees, can do no wrong, wonder woman. I'm going to generalize to the extreme here but I don't think I've ever heard one negative comment about her from a female. They use words like 'adorable' and tell me how great her fashion sense is...I don't know. I think I'm just way out of my element.

Anyways, so yeah I'm cranky. You know when you are cranky, it's one of those days where the chemistry in your brain just isn't mixing agreeably and you kind of have this...nagging sensation in your head that you can't explain? Well what I absolutely hate the most about those days is that someone is bound to notice and say something along the lines of, "jeez, you're cranky." I hate that. what can you say to that? nothing. i mean, they're right but them pointing it out makes you want to smack them. 'Really? I am!?' Maybe they have to say it. Maybe them bringing attention to the fact is one of the initial steps of conquering it.

To deal with my moody state I did some mindless web surfing and eventually arrived at the lollapalooza site to see the line up. I gotta admit, I think it's impressive. Here's the bands I would want to see, setting aside any conflicts in the schedule and putting out of mind where I'll find $200 for a ticket.
-Radiohead
-Rage Against the Machine...reunited
-Wilco
-the black keys fo' sho
-Sharon Jones & the dap-kings
-Explosions
-Dr. Dog
-the octopus project
-lupe fiasco

i look into it some more and possibly update it later. Right now i just looked at the clock and realized i have to wake up for work in 5 hours. shitballs.

Meet Tuck:

People watching...or dog watching?

i love him and well, he loves me. It works out kinda nice like that

da dada daaaa mac 'n cheese to the rescue!

ouch. i'm hurting. i'm hung over pretty good. Last night we had a party at the girls' place. The girls (in case you're unfamiliar) are my closest friends sabrina, michelle and allison. They're one half of the people i hang out with. There's the girls and then there's me and my roommates, and I'm sure the girls refer to as 'the boys'. So in my social world we got the girls and boys, three apiece. but of course i know more than 6 people, everyone else is like a 2nd-tier or 3rd-tier friend, which shouldn't make anyone feel less significant. Everyone knows that those 2nd or 3rd groups of friends are critical in many cases like for parties, or the occasional hangout or so you don't end up going insane and killing the 1st-tiers. wow, i just rambled on.

i just made mac 'n cheese. Trader Joe's brand. You make it in the oven and its sooo good. I took a picture:
mmmm. notice the different shades of yellow. in my opinion the darker the better.

i'm gonna go eat this. maybe after i eat something the little drummer inside my head will stop abusing the bass drum.

a little ditty about doyle

doyle thinks i love myself. he won't admit he loves himself. but he also wishes he was made of butter. like a butter person. a slippery butter person. one capable of buttering pancakes or toast or waffles or an english muffin if one really wishes. but never bagel. its made for cream cheese.
but really, doyle is just full of shit. glorious shit, but shit none the less. he sips on his 7up can (with brandy) like he's the queen bee.

David Rex
Current mood: okay

ok, i have to admit it: I have thought of myself as one of the smartest people alive before. Call it arrogance, confidence, stupidity, or cradduck-esque, but i think i just might be. Of course, I'm not claiming to be an expert in conventional wisdom such as math, science and literature. I lose in that regard to most above-average intelligent people. What i am claiming to be a master of is conceptualizing and out-of-the-box-thinking. You see, there are times when i think of the most random but amazing things. Like my theory that personality, health or emotional traits are actually linked to meaningless physical characteristics. example: i enjoy my sense of humor solely because my second toe is longer than my big toe on my right foot. Scientists have it all wrong, lung cancer is not actually caused by an excessive amount of smoking, but rather an excessive amount of plaque build-up on the back of one's second bicuspid. The problem is science's death-grip on the notion of cause and effect. oh yes, syphilis must be contracted through sexual contact. Not true, it is the result of the angle at which the bottom of your earlobes meet the tip of your nose, if a line was drawn from the ears down the back of the body between the legs and back up to the nose.

Another arguement which challenges my authority as the smartest person alive is my lack of proof for these claims. I have a very simple answer to that. The shape that my left knuckle makes indicates that I am very bad at remembering things. I have even pondered some sort of attention disorder. My mind is usually racing by with a plethora of thoughts and ideas. My problem either lies in the curvature of my right heel or the paucity of freckles in a 3cm by 3cm square on my lower back but whichever it is, I can never grasp onto these ideas long enough to remember them or develop them further. I have been known, by myself, to have said, "I am the most brilliant contemporary thinker but the worst ever communicator." As I send the ideas down from my head to be processed and redistributed as words or text, something goes wrong. I have a hunch it has something to do with the width of the little grooves in my right thumb, but I'm not 100% certain. Anyhow, the transition from thought to audible symbol is not something i have mastered. It just occured to me that science might very well be able to diagnose me with some kind of illness. maybe mental.

Whatever, science. You're just as bad as religion. I know I'm sane; the length of the sprouting hair around the brim of my nipple says so. Science can only be true if you buy into its system. The system that i would say ninety-eight percent of the human population believes in, but what's always popular isn't always right. We all start with a leather bound book, with a blank page for every day of our lives. It's up to us to decide how we should fill it. Some people choose to fill it with religion, some people choose to fill it with luxuries, or with sexual escapades, or with devotion to their family, or to the system enacted through science. Whatever it is, in the end, we all fill our books with something. That's why traditional happiness is such a pointless and impractical goal to strive towards. It's completely subjective. There is no universal happiness which exists outside of one's own wills and desires. There is no universal anything. People spend a fortune of their time deliberating what their purpose is; what the meaning of life is. In reality, the meaning of life is whatever you make it be. But its alright people, i don't fault you. I too understand the difficult struggle between creating and maintaining your individuality while living within the construct of a social environment. It's easy to be pursuaded into accordance with that which is popular.....

...ADD again. goodnight America. goodmorning England. i wish i could do a better british accent but alas, the incredibly stretchy skin on my right elbow hinders my performance.

This is me writing a paper
Current mood: thirsty

I'm in love. I'm in love with Explosions in the Sky. I'm listening to it in headphones while wearing Jake's big fluffy hat with the ear flaps*. If anyone from Sycamore reads this, tell jake that i have his fluffy hat and that it's all ok. But I'm wearing this big hat and it already blocks out a lot of outside sound and then i have my headphones on top of that and the music is just bouncing around inside my head. It's wonderful. This is my attempt to write a paper. I'm outside just sitting here, paralyzed on the back porch, watching the heat from my lungs hang in the frozen air. The right side of my face is numb and i can feel the vibrations in my ears and in my feet as the L passes by. My legs are sunk down into a mucky comfortability and my head lays harmlessly incapacitated on my shoulder. My head is too heavy to move as metal bars and carefully constructed wire hold it motionless in its current location. My eyes do shift from one random point in space to another but they stare absent of focus. My arms are stone, my feet are stone, the only limb able to break free of this miraculous grip are my dancing fingers. Rise and fall in step to the melodic sounds of a snare drum. This is me writing a paper. Explosions are still handing out discounted mind fuckings. Doyle and I had a conversation about them earlier today.

Doyle said that their sound is epic but the way they record doesn't make it sound like they were trying to make it epic.

I said that whenever i listen to it while im walking down the street, i feel sorry for everyone else because i know whatever they are listening to is inferior than to what I am.

So, i should be writing a paper that is due tomorrow for my night class tomorrow but I'm tired. The digits of the current time have a sum and a product of 6 but only have one digit in the hour slot A.M. I should go to bed. "Should" is a word to remind us that we are human and imperfect. I'm talking to Moen and he just vividly described the chaos that high-dived from his ass. It sounded messy yet satisfying. I told him he should have weighed himself before and after, to support the theory that shitting trumps exercising. Or maybe shitting is exercising. Speaking of exercising, before Chris went to bed we both got on the floor and stretched out. Stretching is fun. Try it. Oh, there will be a show at the House in DeKalb this saturday (Nov. 4th) in which Doyle (my roommate)'s band will be playing. Tell your friends so that they can achieve their life long dream of making it on TRL. Who even hosts TRL now? Wait, who ever said Carson Daily was attractive? Was he supposed to be? Oh, and was Pat Sajek from Wheel of Fortune ever considered attractive or was his role to just be goofy and chipmunk-looking? haha. I think there should be a movie made about Pat Sajek's long long long crush on Vanna White but he was always too dorky and nervous to confess it to her. I'm not sure how that would go or end though. I just like Pat Sajek. I hope that's how he spells his last name.

I went to Vegas. It was fun. The highlight was that I saw Dennis Rodman. On the last day, as we were waiting for the valet people to pull up our rented mini-van we saw Mr. Badboy Dennis Rodman walk up to the valet man. He was big. No one seemed to notice him though. Anyway, Dennis Rodman drives a mini-van! I was looking at his career stats and I realized that he wasn't even that good. He didn't even average a block per game in any season of his career! Sure he averaged 13+ rebounds a game over his career but is that all we put up with him for? Hell, Tyson Chandler averaged more blocks, less turnovers and about the same points, assits and steals and we booed him out of town. ok, I'm going to say it.

Dennis Rodman is and was overrated.

GoodNight

Come to Doyle's show.

iiATTENCIÓN!!

it has been brought to my attention by many of my myspace friends (and therefore my real friends) that a lot of people were upset by the neglect and injustice that they felt i placed upon them with my recent actions. for this, i am sorry. i understand that my past writings have always been available to the public; it served as a means for my readers, far and few, to connect with me on many levels. Spiritually, philosophically, emotionally, just bored-ed-ly...

Irregardless*, it was sooo uncool of me to make the Mush series of blogs available only to those on my preferred list. It was not uncool because i deprived all of a chance to read the series. Rather, it was uncool because everyone was intrigued by the fact that they couldn't read it, thus leading to numerous sleepless nights accompanied by sporadic panic attacks and an unrelentless notion to question one's worth in the eyes of el rey. me.

to make sure that this occurence really is just water under the bridge i have decided to feed the masses of my fans from the forbidden tree. it is now my honor to reveal to all of you, the publication of the entire Mush series, free of charge!!

Mush II
Current mood: Chris is making 50 tapes

just so you know, this blog is of epic proportions in length but not substance. just thought Id let you know...

Good/Bad News
so, we found out that there is a broken sewage pipe underneath our apartment and ICM Properties said that we would have to move out of the place so that the city can fix the problem. Apparently that was a direct order from the city. Although it will suck to re-move everything after only like 4 months of living here, there is some upside to this moving thing. I guess we will be moving to a place at 2137 N. Sheffield which is a lot closer to school and people, so that's...nice. Also, they said that the apartment we are moving into is usually rented for $2000 but they are "letting us" rent it for our normal price and it's supposedly bigger than the one we currently have.
that's what's new.

Zelda: the Cavern of Truth
because it is a wonderful day outside, Chris and I went to the quad for our second consecutive day. it was nice. we saw pigeons. we saw hot chicks. we saw some guys playing a wide variety of sports. They tossed around the ole pigskin, poorly threw frisbees and played catch. Some tools even brought bags outside. It was in watching these men in their sports endeavors that I realized something in the way they move. Reading their actions led me on a sociological thrill ride that ended in the dark Cavern of Truth. It was from this cavern that I excavated a theory on the subliminal control of our own subconscious. It reminded me of a time when I think I might have been food poisoned while hanging out at "the house" in Sycamore when I then too emerged from the Cavern of Truth with a theory. Alas, the time has come, for the world is ready for my research, and I, ready to reveal it.*

Proclamation for certain Textual Freedoms
Now, I will eventually talk about these two events: what I noticed about the kids playing sports in the quad and what I realized about myself and a can of Dr. Pepper that one time when I got food poisoned in Sycamore. However, this is where I want to celebrate and openly practice your basic human freedom to textual choice. Below I will write each story independent of each other without any correlation of the other.** I want you to choose which story you read first. Don't simply read the first one because it comes first, you must choose for yourself. My decisions are my own and I will not make yours for you. The one that comes first is first because I decided to write it first and that doesn't mean that you should have to read it first. It's kinda like a "Choose your own adventure" book. So please, exercise your rights.

Psychedelic Revelations
1.One.Uno.Un.
So, I was at "the house" in Sycamore and a bunch of people were upstairs hanging out and I was downstairs hanging out. It was, uh, myself and some other people (I dont remember anyone except Jake) and I had this can of Dr. Pepper, right. So, we are all sitting around and just hanging out, you know, joking and talking and what not. just shooting the shit. the thing is, that while we were just sitting around I noticed people habitually drinking from whatever can they had in their hand. That's when I realized that I too was drinking from the can in my hand. and for whatever reason it caught me off guard, and I kinda did a little checklist in my head. I asked myself, "am I even thirsty?" but it was weird because I wasn't. I just kept taking the occasional sip of the DrP throughout the conversation. I quickly ran to retrieve Cradduck from his voyage and when I got to him he could see the excitement in my eyes as I told him I needed to tell him something. He knew that the voyage must be put on hold as he exclaimed, "that's it, davey's got something!" So I sat him down and said, "feel my can". He held it in his hands and absorbed the excitement it stored.
"is it full?" I asked him. Focusing his attention to his hands he examined the abundancey of my Dr.P and shook his head no. "ok, that can isn't full but yet, im not thirsty. I keep drinking more and more of it subconsciously. Why do I do that? If im not thirsty, why do I keep taking drinks." a multi-minute discussion led us to what we think is the answer to this question. Throughout our years of exposure to social contact outside of the realms of our kin we have evolved. We have adapted to the people and environments around us. We pick up pieces of behavioral traits and actions that we apply. It is a mixed variety of these traits that we, ourselves, use to differentiate from others. At the same time, the very same behavioral traits strengthen the bond between ourselves and the friends we have as we almost adopt our own culture, the culture of the group. Simple actions, which have picked up from observational experiences, become almost instinctual as we interact within the group. In the case of the Dr.P can, I was unknowingly deploying a socially adapted tactic to be a part of the group. The human brain is weird.

"the greatest injustice that has ever plagued man is the injustice God put upon him; the infinite prosperity of man's ability to think and conceptualize drowned by a social environment with insufficient time."

Trans.

the biggest trick god ever played was giving man this brain in a social world where hes got no time to use it

2:Two:Dos:Due:
So, well, Chris, Doyle and I were at the quad because it's nice out and our apartment is a dungeon. but any who, we were just sitting in the quad drinking Dr.Skippers, reading Betty & Veronica comics and watching people play catch. These men led me to my next theory. Maybe not theory but observance for sure. Chris agrees with me on this but we aren't sure if it is solely a male thing or if females do it as well, in other words, further scientific research is required before a complete and fair analysis can be made. But have you ever noticed that when guys participate in sports on a leisure level they always take a moment for silent appraisal? Two guys were playing catch (baseball) and each of them, after every catch, would take just a moment before throwing the ball back. In this moment, they will do things such as look around, perhaps trot back to a previous spot or other little movements that stall just long enough to, as Chris and I believe, congratulate themselves for "making the play". Even the guys playing two on two football would, after every "touchdown" or "first down"***, pause for a moment and perhaps collect themselves after completing the "big play". It got me thinking, are women still instinctually attracted to the more physically fit man as a means of securing her prosperity? Furthermore, does being able to catch a baseball or football in a non-competitive environment give you a leg up in that category? To those guys it seemed like it did. But to fair to them, I know that I do the exact same thing that they do.
Catch. Brief congratulatory moment. Throw. Catch. Brief congratulatory moment. throw.
Perhaps its kinda like sucking in your gut when your mid section is exposed. You know that when you go somewhere like Magic Waters, where everyone's midriff is showing, you know that probably 89% of those people are constantly sucking in. Maybe the Catch Phenomenon follows the same lines. Maybe. I don't know.

yes! you did it!

* I'm building this up way too much.

** Way, way too much
*** I didn't hear the rules being laid out but it seems as if you had four downs to make it to half of the distance of the quad and that was like a first down which then gave you four more downs. A touchdown was past each of the final sidewalks with the end zone spanding to where the grass ends. The guys in red shirts won like 8-5 or 56-35 if 7 points is awarded per touchdown.****
**** or 48-30 if extra points are not counted

An innocent quest leads to a scandalous occurence...

Sabrina and I decided to go on an adventure this afternoon to buy some gummi bears. We merrily walked down the dark alley shortcut to our neighborhood 24-hour Walgreens in hopes that they would stock the desired commodity. Our quest was going swimmingly as we passed through the parking lot and to the front, automatic sliding doors. As i followed sabrina, and the foot that had granted us entrance, my heavy head swung quickly from the left to the right to dodge the glances of the store cashier. It was in this brief passing that i noticed something that appeared to be a mixture of dark skin and bright yellow something; my male instinct wheeled my eyes back the way the came. It was not worth the double-take. Still, in my attempts of stealthily scouting the terrain my target had locked on to me; her eyes set uncomfortably on mine.

In these situations, where eye to eye contact has been made, there are really two things to do. Look away, or continue staring in hopes that they will look away. I choose the latter. As did she.
I don't know why i didn't look away. i wasn't interested in what i saw, at least not sexually. It turns out she had been about five-foot-six, tan skinned, of asian background, with dark, medium-length, straight hair. She was wearing a little too well a canary-yellow tanktop with black spandex shorts which she highlighted with her posture that made sure that her breasts and ass were as far away from each other on the x-axis as possible*. The cashier had been smiling extra big and being extra helpful in hopes of possibly counting her change and she was glad to be the recipient of all the attention.

Sabrina and I had found the gummi bears when i remembered an earlier discussion we had about the prospects of getting ice cream. I walked towards the back of the store towards the frozen foods and right about the aisle that has those Corona flip-flops i halted my walk immediately. That same canary-yellow tanktop and tight black spandex shorts girl almost ran into me! I said, "excuse me" as i quickly altered my next step to get out of her way and continued on to the ice cream.

While standing and observing the selection of ice cream at Walgreen's i begun to feel the sensation that i was being watched. It was strange, because to either my left or right was only one couple and they were engaged in a conversation about the better deal per ounce for orange juice. I moved closer to them to observe the price of milk but also to remove myself from the gaze of whoever was in the aisle behind me. I step to my left once, shift the weight from my right leg to the left and lean over to look at the 1%. oh, it's $2.39, that's not that ba....

...a hand brushes across my back. Out of confusion i shoot my head up quickly and wheel around to witness that same canary-yellow tanktop black spandex shorts wearing girl!!! My head starts spinning with surprise as i watch her walk past me and feel her hand trace the small of my back. Then, she muttered something. What was it? I couldn't hear the words she chose to use, only the inflection of her voice and even that i wasn't so sure about. Her tone was either sexy or offended. The words could have helped to decode this but those were lost in my muddled state. She had spoken softly (as if she wished no one but I had heard her), but her voice was deep. This is what threw me; i couldn't distinguish whether it was more of a deep lust or of a deep anger. i looked to her as she walked down the aisle in hopes of picking up some sort of sign as to what was said. As she turned at the end of the aisle, she locked those same, dark, eyes onto mine and slowly dropped one of her heavy eyelids and brought back up with it, a playful smile.

moments later sabrina came around the corner like the stereotypical comedic sidekick. By now I was laughing, and Sabrina always wants to know, "what's so funny?"

Walking home from Walgreen's and giggling about the events, once more my bootilicious friend came towards me in the parking lot. Sabrina's eyes deadlocked on her as i too gave her a glance.

She walked on by. A quick look and a saucey walk were all i got.

We turned around and watched as she got to the front of the car parked in the handicapped spot. She quickly threw her front end in the driver's window to chat; her hands were on the hood and her tightly-covered, black spandex ass jutted out like a little seat.

Now, ponder this:

Am I a heartbreaker or a big payday for a hooker?

Heartattacks for under $6
Current mood: full

I'm sure you have all seen the commercials for the whopping four beef and cheese Quapdruple Stacker that Burger King is promoting at the moment. You, like myself, might not be all to certain as to why Burger King is promoting a quadruple bacon cheeseburger but you, like myself, might have some theories as to why. Would you like to hear my theories? ok.

1.Uno.Un.
At first I thought that it was a clever marketing strategy with the aim of reaching the market that is fat and doesnt seem to care because they like eating. Other fast food chains (McDonald's, Wendy's) are making significant changes and spending millions of dollars to come across as a healthier choice for America's self-conscience obese. BK on the other hand said, "fuck that, we are BurgerKing. Let's step it up a notch." This is why when McDonald's is trying to attract pussys who eat pussy salads, the manly men are all getting together in pick-ups and going to throw back a couple of cows covered in cheese and bacon and posing succulently on a sesame seed bun.

2.Dos.Due.
For me to share this second theory with you all I must first confess to an almost embarassing event.....

...chris and I each ate a BK quadruple stacker.

don't judge us too hard though. It's just that we had just (enlisted for the army) and so we were really hungry and i said as a joke that we should go to the BK down the street and see if we could conquer a quadruple stacker. He agreed. Now, Im sure you are all sitting in great anticipation for the story of if i could or could not take down the meaty beast. Let me start off by saying that the commercials are misleading. In the commercial i stare disgusted at a skyscraper of meat that towers above tiny men and tiny machine. The thing looks huge, like a double double quarter pounder.* It's not. The patties are not big, they are the standard hamburger patties, not the larger whopper ones. So its kinda like eating two double cheese burgers, which is fairly common and strangely far less gross to think about. Both Chris and I triumphed over our "manly test" and even had room to bury a medium fry and coke. Overrated. It was far from something godly, in fact it was nothing more than a poorly made sandwhich. It had no vegetables and only the "stacker sauce" to seperate the overwhelming taste of meat, cheese, and bacon. By the time we were half way finished we began to feel grease-poisoned as our mouths were simply downing in an ocean of greasey meat. Chris felt nausious; I felt like shitting. This burger seemed more potent than a Crave Case. It was about this time in the meal that i came up with my second, and alternative theory, to the origins of the BK quadruple stacker.

BurgerKing must have had a bad month last month and did not sell as many hamburgers as they had initially ordered. This led to a surplus of hamburger meat, which can remain good for a long time(frozen) because, you know, its not real. The corporation needed to find a way to make money back and get rid of this abundance of hamburger patties that were stacking up in the warehouses, and eventually they did. Their answer came to them in the form of the triple and quadruple stackers which they market to MEN! MANLY MEN!!! STUPID & PRIDEFUL MANLY MEN!!!!!

...and stoners.

ok ok, im sorry, i know i already wrote a blog today and its loserish to write TWO blogs in the same day. But i want to share my most wonderful adventures with you all.* So fuck the other blog i wrote today! FUCK ORANGE JUICE. But not really because orange juice is very delicious and has all of the vitamen C to get you through your day, plus it's great to wake up to. But seriously, dont read it. It's kind of like that book that i read for my ISP class winter quarter last year. Fuck Let Us Now Praise Famous Men**. But anyway, i want to erase that previous blog from your memory and focus on the remainder of this one.

What I Did Today.....

(After 3:30)

I went and got some food with Chris and Doyle. We sat outside and smoked cigarettes and chatted with fellow McCabe dwellers.*** We went to the quad and hung out because it was the most wonderfully wonderful day in the week of 4/10/06. So we do that for a little bit. Jen and I throw sticks at each other, we all mock Sabrina, use our secret communication system of blinks to make fun of Doyle behind his back, Cali Alli and Zac sat quietly. Then that broke up and everyone went their seperate ways. I eventually ended up at Cali Alli's with Sabrina and Ashley. We (practiced pottery) and then headed off to the beach. The beach was lovely and as was the whole day. While at the beach we (recited poetry) a (Q) and then, here comes the best part, WE FLEW A KITE! (Hense the title). It was awesome bo bossum. I haven't flown a kite since i was like 8. I don't know why it is such an enjoyable experience either. I mean, you barely even do anything. The only thing you have to do is hold on to the string. Anyway, it was molto divertente. CA named her kite Galpagos**** because her kite is turtle shaped. After we got tired of the beach we walked home and stopped at subway and it was delicious. Then i came here and told you everything up to now. I hope you all enjoyed my day as much as i did; you can't though because you didn't do it, you just read about me doing it. Unless you flew a kite, then you might enjoy it as much as i did.

and...

LUNPFM was a book about shit. Stupid shitty farmers with shitty lives and a shitty guy teaching a shitty class is the means by which i came across it. Don't read it. It's stupid. And do you want to know how stupid it is? The very author who wrote the book wrote in the preface to his readers that they should not read this book because they will not like it or be able to comprehend the story like he himself can comprehend it. I sure am pissed that the teacher didn't take his advice. It is kind of ironic that i bash this book but yet up there, in the actual paragraph (marked by the two *s (its called back tracking)), i tell my readers not to read my previous work. It' ironic, right? kind of?

Trying to Conjure OJ on a Beautiful Day
Current mood: thirsty

What's the difference between praying and talking to yourself? I was in the elevator just now and realized when i tried to spit that my mouth was completely dry and that i needed something to drink. So i said to myself aloud, "do i want to drink water or milk? hmm, orange juice would be good to have right now. God, i wish i had some orange juice. That would be great." If anyone had heard me having a conversation with no one then they would have labeled me as the creepy guy of the floor. But people talk to themselves, or rather they are directing their aimless conversation to a higher being, and it is deemed socially acceptable. So how come praying can be seen as a righteous act while talking to yourself is a sign of a pyscological disorder? They're the same thing. Furthermore, how come crazy people don't account their inward-aimed conversations to praying?

Crazy religious zealots.

Crazy "crazy" people.

...I still don't have any orange juice...

...water it is.*

Saturdays in Chicago
Current mood: (Wined and Dined)

well, it might be due to the fact that I just (bought stock in Linux) or maybe the essence of spring has gotten to my head but I want to have a child. I was walking down Clark with good ole' Luxem and we heard some of the cutest phrases from little kids. Yeah, that's right, we said "cutest". Here are the lines that were so innocently comical that it tickled the words "Chris, let's have a kid" out of my mouth:

- Daddy, this (sucker) tastes better than chocolate!

- Mommy, I gotta poop.

I don't know why these simple lines of naivity had caught our attention. We then discussed adopting a kid. This precisely lasted two moments and then we returned to our less-sensitive selves.

CL: "Yeah, let's adopt a kid"
DF: "haha, yeah that would be awesome"
CL: "..."
DF: "..."
CL: "..."
DF: "if we did that, the next day we would be like, 'What the fuck were we thinking yesterday?!"
CL: "haha yeah, we can't support you buddy. sorry about that."
DF: "haha, yeah we just bring him out back and (opens hands like revealing a pigeon) let him go into the free world"
CL: "haha, You're free!"
DF: "haha, go on, go on, you're free now buddy!"
CL: "ill put my hat on his head and tell him to go get a job."
DF: "haha, he would have to be tramatized later in life. This fucking eight-year-old-kid gets adopted by two guys in college and then the next day they send him out into the real world and tell him that they can't support him. it's like going from bad to a false better but then crashing down to a worse reality."

(Paint Easter Egg) Break

DF: I know i can't get have a kid at this time, and yeah, i don't want one. But i would like some other being to be dependent upon me. Perhaps un gato o un perro. I like pets because its like a game...
CL: "dave, its cool to play the ukelele like this" (plays ukelele really fast and upbeat)
BOTH: casual conversation. somebody knocks. freaky. carol the cat. myspace. more knocking. camera angle change. luxem singing. more knocking. from the floor. freaky. freaky. knocking. knocking. floor. closet. knocking. knocking. knocking. silence. chris luxem. pencil scratching. introverts/extroverts. trouble. singing.
DF: I like pets because its like a game, 'Let's see how long you can keep the little guy alive'. Also, i like pets because around them is the only time that it is universally socially acceptable to talk in a high-pitched voice and in gibberish.
CL: (sigh) (guitar playing)
DF: I guess what I am trying to say is that I don't want a child, but a dog would be cool. Um... i think this was the most pointless 40 mins ever. What the hell am i talking about? Oh yeah, i wanted to share with you all what those little kids had said.

Oh, before i forget, i have the best idea for some sort of shitty Indie film that will become a cult classic. It is about this guy who writes for editorials for some newspaper and he can never concentrate on what he wants to write so he gets stoned everynight and writes amazing pieces for the newspaper. But the thing is that while he is typing them there is amazing music playing in the background and... shit. i did it again. tangent.

Lets hang out soon
Current mood: bouncy

I was brought to a stunning realization today through casual conversation that eventually grew to philosophical proportions. By the way, if you don't know me, (as in actually have never met me because myspace is moronic like that or as in you know of me but havent really had the most pleasurable opportunity to sit down and pick my brain) well, philosophical exchanges are probably my favorite thing in the whole world. So about one sixty-word sentence later i bring your attention back to my newly found acknowledgement.

I was in Sycamore and the topic of conversation abruptly changed from our projected future to reminiscing about our past. We started talking about friends from high school and the burdens of trying to fit them all in to a schedule of coffee and a template of small talk. Now before you read further, if you accompanied me in the Sycamore Highschool gymnasium on the day of graduation '04 and hugged me afterwards or said something along the lines of, "ill miss you. we need to hang out next year. ill call you. we'll stay in touch.", if you fit all of these requirements so far and feel like that the words in direct juxtapostion* of these words might be offensive to our friendship or may cause you to think less of me as a nice guy and more as a prick then i urge you to STOP READING! I took inventory of how many myspace friends that i had before writing this (131) and ill be hurt if that number should fall below 130. There, i offered a disclaimer. Now, one eighty-word sentence later ill once again remind you that the topic at hand is the unfavorable understood notion of extending your hand farther than it normally reaches to have boring conversation with people you once held so dear to yourself.

I just don't know what propels us to give the notion of interest to keep former friends close. Honestly, it isn't in our logical self-interest to put forth effort in securing a relationship that will come to fruition about 1-3 times a year, maybe less. I mean obviously I am not talking about the core friends that one has but rather i speak of the stragglers; the people who you considered friends in high school because well, calling them casual acquaintances is weird. Even the ones who were lost overtime to differences in groups of friends, music, morals, etc. Is it really worth it to frantically run around and squeeze in 4 lunch dates a day so that you can read through the checklist of small talk and discover the basics of how someone's life is going? Could it be a pointless attempt to relive "the glory days" and reminisce about humorous or dramatic events that you once experienced together? I know we are all afraid of change and uncertainty but clinging to the past makes it that much harder to move into the future.

Earlier tonight I did something drastic. I made a mental list of the people that used to be a part of my life that will occasionally drop me the line "we should hangout soon"** and on this list are the people that i enjoy their presence enough to put forth the effort to keep the fire of the relationship burning. I mean, if there was mutual care to and from someone then the issue of finding time to put asside so that you can mingle should not be a problem. So, in a final retirement of former frienships I have this to say:

To everyone who had an important (or even quasi-important) role in shaping me into the person that I am to this day, thank you and i love you for that. I am sorry that distance and unparallel personal concern has led us astray but i wish you the best in life and all of your endeavors.

There. It's done. I'm a prick aren't I?

Doyle just told me that he killed Uncle John. March 25th is now known as black Saturday. Actually lets shed the negative connotation from the word black. March 25th = Nigrescent Saturday.

* apparently "juxtaposition" was the word of the day on July 14, 2001

** "we should hangout soon" is the biggest load of shit from a male cow. It's purpose is to easily let people know that you don't want to hangout with them and it is understood as that. It's kind of like saying "im sorry" to someone who just lost someone close to them. Its obligatory and can be said without any emotional ties but at the same time allow that person to know that you attended the funeral. The "im sorry they died" thing is another situation that gets me riled up, but that is another story.

uh oh, busted
Current mood: Feeling Watched

so ive been reading a bunch of stories on the news of kids our age, young adults is what i guess we go by, a bunch of young adults have been getting caught for drugs and whatnot because they wrote about shit in their myspace blog. Also a young male was kicked out of his school because they found out he was gay through his facebook and this violated their strong Christian beliefs, views and standpoints.

Now, i can go two ways with the information provided above. I can go onto a tangent about myspace being tapped into to make bullshit arrests or i can talk about the orange warning level of ignorance amongst Christian schools and the ethics.

I choose the former, but perhaps will dabble on the latter later in life.

So now that we pay state and local cops, along with government officials to sit around and sift through internet blogs we need to be more careful about how we use that "freedom" of speech. I have decided to continue writing to my audience of people who have nothing better to do than to read my tiring banter, but from now on all of my posts will be edited for my own and the safety of others*. So, this is what i did today...

I woke up really early and had a Buddhism final then skipped out on (playing scrabble) and going to eat with a bunch of people to study for my final final. Then i went to eat with my roommate (Ares) and our friend (Artemis) and they invited me to come back to (Artemis)'s place and (sit quietly and draw). I declined because i had to study, so i ended up going back to my place and (masturbating) and then studied for my final final. At 6 i went and took my final final and it took me approxomately 47 minutes to complete. When i was finished i called up (Hera) and went over to her place where (Athena), (Aphrodite), and (Leto) had already (pinned the tail on the donkey) and were watching Jarhead. They were going to go out to celebrate (Aphrodite)'s birthday. Instead, I came home and went to (Dionysus)'s apartment where i hung out with (Zeus), (Hermes), (Gaia) and (Apollo) and we (penguin slid) in (Dionysus)'s room. After we (fixed our hair), (Dionysus)'s roommate, (Poseidon), got mad because we had (walked the dog) in his residencey and it got really awkward. We started to watch American Beauty, because i had never seen it before but when we decided that it was time for a (cigarette) break (Poseidon) thought that we were once again (mopping up) and he told everyone at the place to leave. So everyone left. I came home and here i am, writing this edited retelling of the events.

a slice of opinion
Category: Life

ok, here's the sitch. (eh eh, a little kimpossible reference, eh eh?)

I got a haircut. I look fourteen. Less trashy, but also fourteen.

oh, and by the way, I don't know why I haven't written about this sooner, but the other night I almost got hit by a cherry pie that fell from the sky. Now if God was up there slinging pies I would have taken it as an omen, to maybe clean up my act or... actually, I'm not quite sure what kind of message you should get out of God pelting you with a cherry pie. I mean, blueberry is a no-brainer but there is something mysterious about cherries. Anyway, Doyle, Chris, Emily and I were all standing outside of McCabe talking when the event occurred. We were deeply immerged in drunken casual conversation when the pie smashed into the ground about three inches from Emily. Doyle and I thought it was hilarious (Doyle gave his patented A HAHA laugh). Emily on the other hand became furious and started stomping around attempting to show her discontent with the entire act of wasting food but coming off as taking part in some sort of gazelle mating ritual*. It was then that we found that God had not been attempting to end our sinful existences but rather it was a room full of tools, probably drunk, throwing fucking pies out the window at three in the morning. Even though we could not see the people who had tried to assault us with dessert**, I was still able to make all of the following presumptions about their personality and situation by the first two words they spoke. "Fuck You". Fuck you. Fuck you is the entire tool nation's motto. They live by the fuck you, they breathe the fuck you, they bathe in fuck you, they eat fuck you, they believe in fuck you, and they worship fuck you. This following excerpt was taken from the National Guild of Tools' handbook:

(p. 34) The Ancient Craft of Winning a Verbal Confrontation:
When a bitch is getting all up in your face and he's trying to get you all fired up so that you can...talk and bitch, you and he and AHHHHHH FUCK YOU. Take the guidelines that have been passed down between generations of tool to generation of tool:
1. call him a fag
2. if he isn’t wearing Abercrombie & Fitch, mock his fashion sense
3. create a quick 1-2 line story where you are the subject, "fucked" is the verb and someone close to your opponent is the direct object
4. if the first three didn’t work say Fuck You
5. repeat step 4
6. repeat step 4... or 5
7. repeat step 4-6
8. punch them.

I don't know about you, but in my personal opinion a fuck you is like a white flag. It’s a fallback plan, its safe, but its very pussiotic. I tend to be more hurt by something personal or which the other person came up with, especially if it’s clever. There is nothing more frustrating than being beaten by intelligent banter. I think we are just in the transitional period of putdowns, fuck you will soon be holding hands with your-mom-jokes and reliving the glory days as they sit around the figurative barrel fire and listen to stories from i-know-you-are-but-what-am-i. Hopefully nigger will join them; the only thing keeping that from fading into nonexistence is the black culture holding it above our heads as if it’s their holy grail. Nigger had a negative meaning in the times of slavery and oppression but now, blacks take this hurtful word of their past and use it in everyday conversation, a lot! I asked a black friend why they do this and he explained that, "blacks aren’t using it the same way white people do. By calling someone my nigger its like, man, I know what you've been through; i've been through the same shit."pause. He said this while checking something on his razr. "We're brothers, because we have so much in common, we come from the same hard past, and nigger puts all of that emotion into one word, nigger" I feel like Sister Bear in that Bearnstein Bears Book, "No Girls Allowed". Apparently I have yet to feel enough pain to casually and excessively sling around the word nigger. Let it die.

...in other news, penis-size-jokes are a bull market

*I actually don’t know what the gazelle mating ritual looks like, I just assumed that it might look something like how Emily was walking

**The way you remember the difference in spelling between desert (sand) and dessert (pie) is that there are two "s"s in dessert (cake), because you always want more of it.

the reason for my problems

I finally figured out what I can blame for anything that has ever gone wrong in my life. It's so simple; I don't know why I never thought of it before. Chain Letters. My curiosity always forces me to open them but my negative attitude toward their stupidity always prevents me from resending them. Over the years I have probably accumulated thousands of wishes of bad luck, hundreds of lost loves, a myriad amount of hate has crossed my path and a morbid acuteness for other variations of bad karma has been cast over me. For example, I opened one just a few minutes ago and was plagued with the following for not reposting:
-bad luck for 900 days
-will not get a boyfriend/girlfriend for 3 years
-will not have sex for 3 years

If I open just one chain letter a day but do not respond and then am sentenced to 900 days of bad luck and 3 years of no sex, in one week I have amassed 6,300 days of bad luck and will remain un-laid for the next 21 years! That's for just one chain letter a day for a week! Now put this together for about how long I have been receiving chain letters and the figures are astounding. If I keep this up, my virginity will regrow, I will live alone forever, my friends will all leave me, new-born babies will be born into the world with the instinctual notion to hate me and I will be forced to wander through numerous countries and continents on my nomadic journey to find someone who could find it in their heart, not to hate me.

I guess Curiosity actually did kill the cat...

Well, that and the failure to respond to chain letters.

oh the joys of myspace

do you know what my absolute favorite part of myspace is? of course you dont, but i'll tell you. it is that no matter how ridiculous a girl looks in one of her pictures, there will always be some creepy guy with a shirtless picture who left a comment saying something like, "dats hott" or "sexii" or "dam gurl" or my favorite is when they put it all together, "dam gurl dats hott. u sure sexii. how could i get in thos pants? lol" i fucking hate lol. but whenever i am down or just need a stunning realization that i am better than someone, i just seek out those comments and laugh at how tool-infested myspace is. i think whenever i decide to take a myspace picture, strictly for my internet friends, it is going to be me, model-faced, shirtless and hair gelled so that i may fit in with the people that make this site so grand.

...bitch.

Old Man Mcgee

So, I recently turned 20. This means that I am no longer a teenager but not quite yet "in my twenties". Actually, i don't even know if 21 constitutes as being "in your twenties", i mean if 1 is a singular number than i would think that you would need to be at least 22 to be considered "in your twenties". Well, right now i am in my twenty and i feel fine. She's in love with me and i feel fine. It kind of made me wonder whether or not I had a very productive teenage era. I think i've done quite a lot in my day but I still can't decide if I have done enough memorable things that I can eventually look back at it one day and decide that it is better if i didn't tell my kids. I think that should be the goal of life, to have stories. Hopefully, in my first twenty years of existence I have had enough encounters to be satisfied, but i guess time will only tell if that is true or not. But anyway, i look forward to the period known as my twenties, i hear they are a gay and jolly time. We'll see.

Why Chris and I will rule the world!!

It's because we have conversations like this...

Its Only Chris (5:41:47 PM): sabrina told me the title of a story that you told her called Chris and the cyclops. I told her you should become a full time story teller and bring back the tradition of oral history...like the Native Americans or Ancient Greeks
Its Only Chris (5:42:01 PM): i think it was chris and the cyclops
Its Only Chris (5:47:22 PM): you better not be masterbating
Its Only Chris (5:47:37 PM): i always worry when there is a gap in our conversation that one of us is sinning
fiandaca21 (5:47:55 PM): haha

fiandaca21 (5:29:57 PM): should i send everyone i know a message saying that i am going to aruba
fiandaca21 (5:30:02 PM): it will waste time
Its Only Chris (5:30:12 PM): haha yes you should
fiandaca21 (5:30:35 PM): would it be alright if i use the exact same message and only change it a tad for certain people
Its Only Chris (5:30:52 PM): yeah...put an inside joke in their occasionally
fiandaca21 (5:31:22 PM): can i use your name for everyone of them
Its Only Chris (5:31:32 PM): do you even have to ask
Its Only Chris (5:31:59 PM): dave you have full rights to the Chris Luxem Enterprise. That includes women, money, food, family, and use of my name
fiandaca21 (5:33:18 PM): i better copy that down somewhere in case you try to sue later in life
Its Only Chris (5:34:10 PM): only for the food would i sue you
fiandaca21 (5:35:11 PM): well thats understandable.
Its Only Chris (5:35:53 PM): what are you writing to everyone
fiandaca21 (5:37:20 PM): one sec, ill let you proof read it
Its Only Chris (5:39:52 PM): i'm good at reading Davy
fiandaca21 (5:39:58 PM): im alright at writing
Its Only Chris (5:40:27 PM): whenever I email people from DePaul or from home that I don't talk to on a daily basis I always say 'Have you gone swimming yet this summer?'

fiandaca21 (5:50:55 PM): As some of you might know, I have been kicked out of the country due to the illegal porn ring that Chris Luxem and myself started in my basement with two cameras and a mattress we found on the side of the road. by the way, check us out at www.sheersmut.com!! But anyway, apparantley Cindy Sweetheart was only 16 and we got busted. Chris has been serving 3 months over in Europe and my sentence is 1 week in Aruba, effective tomorrow, August 15. So while I repay my debt to society, i will be unreachable by phone, email, and even worse... myspace!! I would like to leave with you, my myspace friends, some words of hope: I will be back on Saturday. I can resume my life as a normal American citizen at that time. Please do not allow my time away from a computer to discourage you from writing messages, comments or picture comments. If anything seek inspiration in my story, write me more messages than you would do normally, stick it to the man!! I must leave you all now, as i ready myself for my journey.

masturbating is fun and all...

but i figure if i am sitting here writing a blog entry then i am most certainly not living life like Jesus would want me to. I feel gross; i feel disgusting that i have been reduced to writing blog entries. It is sacreligious, and i dont even associate myself with a denomination. Writing blogs is the equivalent of eating that piece of chocolate cake three days into your diet. It is giving up, there is no step lower. After i do this, i will contemplate the meaning of life, the phrase "what am i doing with my life?" will surface and i will fall asleep on a tear-smeared pillow. This is what blogging has reduced me to. It has drained all of the pride out of my vegetabled body, every ounce of enjoyment that life has granted me passes through my fingers and is held captive in this blog entry. I must find alternatives to this sorrowful ending. Some might look to the title of this hideous beast as an escape from this torture; even that can lose its once adventerous and mysterious qualities, leaving the pure act as more of a daily chore than a blissful vacation. Others might suggest I occupy myself with an inticing book, or possibly more simply to ingage in the twisted plot of a movie. I turn away from these ideas for the sheer reason that I dont want to. I feel like i should be doing something, not just settling for the first thing to present itself with a quick solution of wasting my time before entering the realms of sleep. This is the quarrel that has been racking my brain for many nights and i finally think that an answer has presented itself to me. I will release a rap album. Not just any rap album, this isnt going to be just some other Country Grammer shit, this is going to be the rap album that brings respectable hip hop back to our generation. The body by which this feat will happen? Rogue3. Rogue3 is a compilations of the phatest beats and the hottest rhymes. Rogue3 is a virus that will change the future of hip hop as we know it, whether people are ready for it or not. We have a myspace page... i didnt make it, cubby did. we dont have any songs yet, we apologize. http://www.myspace.com/roguethree

Thank everyone's respected higher being for music

I just want to throw down a little bit of gratitude to the god of music. I personally think that without the touch of glory that it brings to our lives, we as humans would have killed each other at least twenty-three years ago. Well killed each other in a greater magnitude to that in which we kill each other now. But there will be no philosophies on the flaws of human nature in this blog, only the recognition of a beautiful thing that many people take for granite (im not sure if that's spelled correctly, it looks wrong for some reason). But I mean, without music, passing the time wouldn't be as much fun; a song has been created for every mood that you could possibly be in. This private dedication is what is so wonderous about this phenomenon, and although one song might be paired with a certain mood for someone, it could match a totally different mood for someone else. This is why I hate those people who find it necessary to claim that they have discovered so-and-so band before everyone else, just so that they can construct a sense of closure knowing that everyone else has been connecting to their song. One of the truly magnificent things about music is that it is shared throughout everyone, everywhere. We shouldn't lay claims to a song because we heard it first; we should embrace the remarkable talent that music has in its ability to bring a large variety and diverse group of people together. This is its most astonishing commitment to our lives and one that is unparalled by any other thing that can be found on this world. Music, you've been rocking for as long as anyone can remember and we wouldn't have it any other way. So here's your well-deserved recognition for a job marvelously done.

...no i wasn't on crack for this blog... or marijuana

The Myspace Chronicles (inizio)

The following posts are indeed from a previous time, the Myspace years. It had a good run, but i'm told by practically everyone who claims to have some sort of professional experience that I need to get rid of it or I'll NEVER be hired (<- gotta be an over-exaggeration). But anyway, here they are, artifacts of a time now gone from a website that i used to think was cool. Man, it got old. It got old and I stopped caring. But i would have stopped caring a lot sooner than i did if it wasn't for the interest people seemed to have in what i wrote. The power to entertain, even for a minute or two is an awesome ability. So anyway, here they are, safeguarded in a sort of blogger-museum, The Myspace Chronicles
